Atheneum is a study workspace made of modular tools. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Atheneum.

We may update these terms. For changes that meaningfully reduce your rights or increase your obligations, we will give notice by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Atheneum after that means you accept the new version.

You must be at least 16, or the minimum digital-consent age where you live, whichever is higher. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian’s permission.

Atheneum is built for individual study. We do not currently offer institutional or school-administered accounts, and the service is not designed to hold records subject to education-records law.

You are responsible for your credentials and for activity under your account. Use a password you do not reuse elsewhere. If you think someone else has access, change your password immediately — that signs out every other device — and use Settings to sign out everywhere.

You may sign in with an email and password or with Google. For security we refuse to link a Google identity to an existing account whose email address has never been verified.

You can browse a limited part of Atheneum as a guest. Guest activity is not saved.

Everything you upload or create — notes, files, flashcards, tasks, conversations — remains yours. We claim no ownership of it.

You grant us only the narrow permission needed to run the service: to store your content, transmit it, and process it so features work. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell it.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Do not upload material you do not own or have permission to use.

You can export or delete your content at any time, and deleting your account removes it.

Do not use Atheneum to:

• break the law, or help someone else do so;
• upload malware, or attempt to reach accounts or data that are not yours;
• probe, scan, or stress-test the service, or work around usage limits and plan gates;
• scrape, resell, or redistribute the service or its content;
• submit another person’s personal data without a lawful basis;
• harass others or upload unlawful, hateful, or sexually exploitative content.

Academic integrity is your responsibility. Atheneum can generate summaries, quizzes, and explanations — submitting that output as your own work may breach your institution’s rules. Know them before you rely on it.

If you find a security vulnerability, report it to us before disclosing publicly. We will not pursue good-faith research that respects other users’ data and privacy.

Athena and the other AI features run on large language models. They are frequently useful and sometimes confidently wrong. Output can contain factual errors, flawed reasoning, or invented citations.

Do not rely on AI output as a sole source for anything that matters — an exam answer, a medical or legal question, a financial decision. Verify it against your actual course material.

AI features have monthly usage limits that vary by plan. We may adjust those limits as costs change, with notice for paid plans.

Atheneum has a free tier and paid Pro and Pro+ subscriptions. Current features and limits are on the pricing page.

Payments are handled by Paddle, which acts as merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment details and issues receipts; we never see or store your card number. Paddle’s own terms apply to the transaction.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not pro-rate partial periods.

If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you have a statutory 14-day right to cancel a new subscription. Beyond that, contact us — we would rather resolve a problem than keep money from someone who is not getting value.

If a payment fails, we may move your account to the free tier until billing is resolved. Your data is not deleted; features simply return to free-tier limits.

We may change prices. Existing subscribers get at least 30 days’ notice before a change affects their renewal, and can cancel before it takes effect.

Atheneum is provided as-is. We do not offer an uptime guarantee, and we may take the service down for maintenance. We aim to give notice for anything planned.

We add, change, and remove features. If we remove something you actively rely on and you are on a paid plan, we will give reasonable notice and, where the change is material, the option to cancel with a refund for the unused period.

Some features depend on third parties — Google Calendar, Cloudflare, Paddle, Semantic Scholar. If they are unavailable, the corresponding feature may be too.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your content is removed and cannot be recovered. Export anything you want to keep first.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms. Except where the breach is serious or unlawful, we will tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to fix it. If we terminate an active paid subscription for reasons other than your breach, we will refund the unused portion.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Atheneum is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data beyond what our backups hold, or academic outcomes. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £50.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes fall to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
